Recommendation

SwiMetrics recommended the following drills to help improve this player's swimming technique, both for swimming and water polo:

1. Swim holding a tennis ball between his chest and chin.
2. Swim with an extended neck, always looking straight down.
3. Do rotation drills: six kicks on the left side – one arm stroke – rotate on the right side – six kicks on the right side. Use his hips to rotate from one side to another.
4. Do pulling drills by holding a pull buoy between his ankles.
5. Swim against resistance (surgical tubing) in order to develop a connection between his arm/hand and lower abdominal muscles.
6. Do dryland exercise focusing on an early catch using surgical tubing and/or stretch cords.
7. Do swimming drills focusing on an early catch using small paddles while pointing his fingertips down at the beginning of each stroke.
8. Do catch-up freestyle stroke moving his hand/arm with acceleration towards the end of each stroke.
9. Swim with a paddle only on his right hand.
10. Swim head up using small paddles with a focus on an early catch.
11. Kick butterfly and freestyle in the vertical position, alternatively sets with both arms on the chest, one arm straight up in the air and two arms straight up in the air.
12. Kick against Thera-band loop (using either yellow or green resistance).
13. Kick with tennis shoes.
